Here is the way the taxes would change from the current status in the EQUFSD as a hamlet to the Village. The net change is $.06/$1000 of assessed value or about $30/year for a home assessed at $500,000. The Village cost is $.10/$1000 and you save $.04/$1000 in Town Taxes that you no longer have to pay. So the net increase is $.06/$1000.
Here is a copy of the Village of Sagaponack’s Inter-Municipal Agreement with the Town of Southampton which shows that we can still pay the same rates for consolidated Town services even if we have home rule as a Village.
